What is Video Recruit?

Video Recruit is a simple HR tool which enables recruiters to invite candidates to record an automated online video interview as part of their application. Candidates are invited via an email with an embedded hyperlink to the Video Recruit website. Once on the website, the candidate is asked several questions that are prepared in advance by the recruiter. The interview is recorded via microphone and webcam and when completed, is made available to the recruiter to review and share with colleagues.

What are the benefits of Video Recruit?

Video Recruit allows you to view your candidate videos whenever and wherever you like, and for as long or as short as you like. You can also share these videos with other colleagues involved in the recruitment process. No need to coordinate timing, book a meeting room or hold a time slot in a busy schedule. The time and cost savings are substantial, the time to hire is significantly reduced, and the overall quality of hire is increased.

How long will it take me to learn how to use Video Recruit?

Video Recruit is logical, intuitive and simple to use. No formal training is required but our support team is ready to assist you with any questions. And no integration effort is required as the full functionality of the platform is accessible online via a browser.

Are there any restrictions on viewing a Video Vignette (VV)?

You can view your candidates’ Video Vignettes as often as you like at no extra charge. Video Vignettes should be stored in your candidate database for a limited time in relation to their purpose, and with a maximum period of 6 months unless otherwise agreed with Video Recruit.

Can candidates record their Video Vignette if they do not have their own webcam?

Candidates who do not have their own webcam may visit any of our Video Recruit Recording Centers where they will be able to record their interview free of charge. They may also visit internet cafes, school computer centers, public libraries or anywhere else with webcam-enabled computers.

Can I customise the questions the candidate is asked in the video interview?

Yes. You can create as many questions and question boxes (a selection of questions) as you require. You can also specify how much time the candidate has to answer each question.

Can I send multiple email invitations at one time?

Yes. Through the search function in the candidate database you can search and select all candidates you would like to invite to record an interview.

Does the email invitation expire?

Yes. There is a default period of one week but you are free to change this as you require.

Am I charged a credit for each email invitation I send?

No. You may send as many email invitations as you like and will be charged only for each successfully recorded Video Vignette.

What is an online automated video interview?

An online automated job video interview is an interview you record at a time and place to suit you.

What do I need to complete such an interview?

You will need a computer installed with a microphone, web camera, the latest version of Flash ( http://www.adobe.com/…/flashplayer ) and an internet connection. Alternatively you may visit one of our Video Recording Centers and record your video interview there at no charge.

How does it work?

The interviewer prepares the questions they want you to answer, specifies a date by which you need to complete the interview and sends you an email invitation. You click on the link embedded in the email, read and accept the Terms & Conditions, record as many practice questions as you require and then start the interview. During the interview, you read and record your answers, moving on to the next question at will or when the assigned question time has expired. The interviewer can then review your video interview whenever he/she wants.

Where do I do the interview?

You may record the interview wherever you like but it is important to select a quiet room with good lighting to optimise the quality of the video recording.

How do the practice questions work?

Before you start the actual interview you can test your audio and video quality by recording a practice question. On the ‘Practice Question’ page, click on ‘Record’, then record an answer which you can play back. You may repeat this process as many times as you need.

Can I see the questions in advance?

No. Video Recruit intentionally simulates a live interview and so you do not know the questions in advance.

Can I pause or redo the interview?

No. Once you have started recording your interview you will not be able to pause it or redo it. You will also not be able to review it once you have completed it. Should you have any technical difficulties during the recording, send an email at .

What should I do once I’ve finished recording the interview?

Nothing! Once you have arrived at our ‘Thank You’ page, just close your browser. Your video job interview is automatically saved to your profile and the interviewer is advised by email.
